The regulations regarding the quantity of cubicles you need differs depending on whether your office toilets are mixed-use (gender-neutral) or for exclusive use by males or females.

While the overall size of cubicles varies from room to room, Building Regulations Part M and the Equality Act 2010 do regulate the minimum dimensions that manufacturers and suppliers are allowed provide.

By law, every standard cubicle must have a minimum manoeuvring diameter of 450mm.

At Decrobond, we recommended that a standard cubicle meets the following dimensions:

• 850mm internal width x 1500mm internal depth 
• 650mm wide, inward opening door.

Wheelchair accessible cubicles are designed to provide ease of access for wheelchair users. 

Regulations state that a wheelchair accessible cubicle must meet the following dimensions: 

• 2220mm internal width x 1500mm internal depth. 
• 950mm wide, outward opening door.

Enlarged cubicles are designed to provide additional space for people with disabilities and must include both horizontal and vertical grab rails to assist the user if required. 

Regulations state that an enlarged accessible cubicle must meet the following dimensions: 

• 1200mm internal width x 1500mm internal depth. 
• 750mm wide, outward opening door.

Ambulant cubicles are much the same as standard cubicles, with the exception that they must be fitted with an outward opening door to provide additional manoeuvring space for people with disabilities, such as ambulant wheelchair users. 

Regulations state that an enlarged accessible cubicle must meet the following dimensions: 

• 800mm internal width x 1500mm internal depth. 
• 650mm wide, outward opening door.
